Dr. Lotay

BSC, MD, CCFP

Dr. Lotay is originally from the East Kootenays and obtained her medical degree from the University of Alberta with distinction and a gold medal in Surgery. She has been serving patients in Kamloops for over two decades.

Her love of visual arts and proficiency in surgery led to her pursuing a career in aesthetic medicine. In 2001 she completed a Private Practice Fellowship in Philadelphia with Dr. Alan Wulc a well known and respected Oculoplastic surgeon. Dr. Lotay balances the pursuit of beautifying techniques with safe, scientific and evidence-based interventions. Her approach is known for its artistry and natural looking results, every time. She combines use of dermal fillers, lasers and neuromodulators, using a global approach to the face and advanced techniques, including but not limited to MD Codes as well as proprietary techniques she has developed over her career in aesthetics. She regularly attends international conferences, and creates a refreshed, never ‘done’ look for her patients. Combining knowledge in various modalities, her expertise lies in creating a natural, refreshed look using nonsurgical interventions including injectables and laser treatments.

She initially started her career as a family physician and spent some time in Kamloops as a locum. Her interest in Primary Care Dermatology began during her time in Texas where she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Texas in San Antonio. She has an interest in hair loss and has completed an intensive course at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto under Dr. Jeff Donovan, a leading hair loss dermatologist. The main dermatologic service provided at Sona MD is the screening and treatment of skin cancer, as well as minor surgery for skin cancer removal. Dr. Lotay continues to attend many national and international conferences on Clinical Dermatology, Medical Lasers, and Dermoscopy. She completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology through Queen Mary, University of London School of Medicine in 2016 and received Certification in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine from the University of Queensland.

She enjoys educating her patients on skin care as well as teaching medical students and residents. She currently teaches medical students during their dermatology block at the University of British Columbia Okanagan.
